Let us think about where our human family is going this century and where it needs to be eventually. Clearly, our present World is in a period of great change. Every institution and every human culture is being tested and challenged as never before. Due to our technological advances in communications, the power is no longer confined to the privileged elite, but is now moving rapidly to the individual. … So, … What shall we do with this new power! … Where can we go? … And, … Where should we go?
We should strive for a stable world of peace and abundance for all where overall growth remains a constant. Our Earth cannot absorb more growth and pollution than we already have. Here is what we need to strive for in the decades and centuries ahead. We need a minimum of four basic things for people to live and prosper in health and dignity.
FOOD Today we are threatened with an unequal distribution of food and many people are starving while others are overweight. This is shameful because we know how to produce enough food on a sustainable level for every human on Earth up to about ten billion.
SHELTER There is no technical nor economic reason why any human needs to be without basic shelter or humble abode. As with all of our problems, we must have the political will to advance.
SECURITY People must have basic security in order to thrive in healthy dignity. Real security is absence of war and threats of violence. A safe place to live is essential.
EDUCATION The human family cannot rise to full potential before we devise a proper system of education. Human education starts in the womb. It starts with properly motivated and trained parents. This kind of futuristic nurturing of the infant can only be successful when all three of the above conditions are met. But, we must also teach and coach the children of the next generation in ways totally different from the past centuries. Our very first priorities must be to meet the needs of each individual so no child is failed or dismissed. Every child finds his groove and graduates to be a responsible, contributing adult. This can be done! This must be done wherever all conditions have been met.
MEANINGFUL WORK, PLAY, and ACTIVITIES
Healthy people need things to do. Things that have meaning in their lives. Activity, mental or physical, is the one common characteristic of all normal people, rich or poor. Busy people are generally happy people.
So what will occupy people in a future world where most things will be made fast and cheap by Robots? One can only guess, but it may be something like this. Jobs will be scarce. Wages will be modest for the many. Some will have career jobs much like today but work fewer days each week. Others, maybe the majority, will be self employed at home or in their own little shop, store. entertainment, or in service to the less fortunate. The educated people will find other creative ways to live, play, and enjoy their own special journeys.
It is possible that Global Warming will be enough to shock us into a united World effort of Grassroots Action!
Corrective action is all doable with the right vision.
Meanwhile, be patient, TAX THE RICH TO PAY FOR PROPER EDUCATION, select good political leaders, and put your faith in the next generation,… OUR BETTER EDUCATED CHILDREN. …
And, if we fail the above? … We may continue with more wars, pestilence, human suffering, starvation, and a World of dysfunctional governments. ...WHO WANTS THAT? …
